AFRIKANET solution:

In order to facilitate the work of every student, AFRIKANET installed in the campuses a Hotspot express. Every student was able to connect to internet in this hotspot area whenever they want and work more easily.  For connecting to internet, every student needed to take a ticket appointment for browsing.

This experience was only able thanks to AFRIKANET and a join venture with Wisenet. We provided a dedicated C-Band solution with the science of Ubiquity for the distribution. This solution allowed installing software to control the connection of students.

Education is a big matter for AFRIKANET and we have very glad to have contributed to this project and increase the level of education in Africa, allows to students to have the same university education as in Europe and to take the same chance to success.

TeleMedecine revolutions hospitals communication

Africa Healthcare
Partner with JVM, in 2009, AFRIKANET provided wireless lan to network and linked hospitals between them in different cities of Senegal (Keungheuil, Kaffrine, Gossas, Sokone) to revolution hospitals communication.
  • Project Description

Thanks to this project the hospitals communication with transmission of medical images as well as patient data records and other medical information is now possible. The project uses a “Store and Forward” method. Tele-radiology, tele-dermatology and tele-consultation are the main applications. Once digitized, images from radio graphs, extracts of patient records and vocal messages are compressed, encrypted and stored in one file that is sent via the appropriate telecommunication link. The doctor receives the document and is able to give an instant opinion on the case. The opinion is transmitted back by Fax, Telephone or E-mail.

A sign of international solidarity with Fondation Saint Martin

fondation saint martin
For the second year, the Fondation Saint Martin renewing their trust toward Afrikanet, and renewed their contract with us for keeping their internet access.
  • About the Fondation Saint Martin

As a sign of international solidarity, Alfred Müller AG (which is based in Baar, canton of Zug) established the Fondation Saint Martin in 1992. With a foundation capital of 2.5 million Swiss francs, it forms the basis for the financing of the «Water is Life» project. It is subject to supervision by the Swiss federal government. Its declared objective is to support solidarity projects, and it can be active throughout the world. Its current priority is the «Water is Life» drinking water project in Cameroon.

The «Water is Life» project

The «Water is Life» project is the result of an initiative on the part of Urs Egli, a Benedictine priest from Engelberg, who as head of the Catholic Mission in Otélé, southern Cameroon, found himself confronted with a high infant mortality rate and a population that was in very poor health.

The project originally set out to build 44 wells, but this number soon increased to 400, and in the meantime it has surpassed 1,350. In order to ensure a sustainable supply of drinking water, the St. Martin Foundation attaches a great deal of importance to the maintenance of wells, but it is also constantly pushing ahead with the construction of new ones.

AFRIKANET and the Oil and Gas sector

catarina project
AFRIKANET worked on Catarina project to be part of the oil and gas industry and helped it in order to help to facilitate the maritime communication.
  • About the project

This project was referred by Oil Comm 2012 conference in Houston. The Cobalt International Energy company needed internet connectivity on its new rig that was shipped from South Korea to Angola where the oil is explored.

oil and gasSince Brazil unveiled its enormous oil and gas resources in pre-salt, all the companies made the parallel with the Angola deep water suspected to host similar reserves because of the symmetry of the geology across the South Atlantic ocean. As a result of the first investments made by the major companies bringing in all their technology, Angola may envisage to restore its production of crude oil to 2008 levels. As the second largest producer in Africa, Angola delivered 1.7 million barrels per day (b/d) of crude oil in average along 2012. Angola expects to run at 1.8 to 1.9 million b/d in 2013 and is targeting 2 million b/d in 2014with the additional contribution of the Kizomba first phase and its satellites. Within this exploration frenzy, Cobalt managed to take operator role in the Blocks  20 and 21. In the Block 20, Cobalt holds 40% working interest and share partnership with BP and the national oil company Sonangol. In water depth ranging between 1,300 and 1,400 meters, Cobalt is currently drilling the Lontra-1 exploratory well in the north of the Block 20 with the Petroserv SSV Catarina semisubmersible platform. If Cobalt‘s expectations are confirmed, Lontra-1 could appear as one of the largest pre-salt play of the Kwanza Basin.
