AFRIKANET helped the World Food Programme.

For a good performance of the organization, and having a good logistics, Afrikanet provided its WLAN equipment between spot in order to assure a well running of all the operation and the safety of the World Food Programme operation. A VSAT solution was also installed.

About the NGO:

The World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide. Born in 1961, WFP pursues a vision of the world in which every man, woman and child has access at all times to the food needed for an active and healthy life. We work towards that vision with our sister UN agencies in Rome — the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) — as well as other government, UN and NGO partners.

On average, WFP reaches more than 80 million people with food assistance in 75 countries each year. About 11,500 people work for the organization, most of them in remote areas, directly serving the hungry poor.

What the World Food Programme is doing in Central African Republic

WFP activities are carried out through three projects in support of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) 1 through 6 in order to address the country’s complex challenges. Activities are consistent with national strategies and conform to humanitarian partner interventions. WFP operations are thus in line with the Government’s Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper II (2011-2015) and the intergovernmental United Nations Peacebuilding Commission’s Strategic Framework for Peacebuilding (2009-2011). WFP’s interventions are also coordinated through the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (2012-2016) and the annual Consolidated Appeals Process.

AFRIKANET solution:

For a good performance of the organization, and having a good logistics, Afrikanet provided its wireless equipment with the brand ALCON (Alink580/A) between spot where the food was delivered in order to assure a well running of all the operation and the safety of the staff. A point to point solution was installed between different site to facilitate the connection and a point to multipoint was also installed in each site to facilitate the communication of the staff during the operations.

All the WLAN solution was also installed with a VSAT connection thanks to our C-Band solution IS-903 in the site of Bambari and Bour in Central African Republic

BUILDING A VSAT NETWORK FOR SOGEA SATOM – VINCI CONSTRUCTION

Sogea Satom is one of Vinci Construction’s subsidiaries and one of the leaders of international construction firms in Africa. Sogea Satom in Equatorial Guinea asked AFRIKANET to provide them an Internet connexion in several sites located in Malabo, Bata, Oyala, Evinayong and Mongomo. Thanks to a qualitative C-Band bandwidth, AFRIKANET helped Equatorial Guinea to have access to the Internet.

About SOGEA SATOM

Sogea Satom is one of Vinci Construction’s subsidiaries. Sogea Satom is positioned as the leader of international construction firms in Africa. They are seen as a stable and permanent operator which currently employs about 8,000 people on more than a hundred projects. Present in about 20 African countries, the group is polyvalent: road-building, building works, civil and hydraulic engineering, they can meet customer’s expectations as closely as possible.

To improve their service quality and to be more performant, Sogea Satom decided to cover its sites to the Internet and AFRIKANET was the ideal partner for this project.

AFRIKANET solution:

In 2011, Sogea Satom in Equatorial Guinea asked AFRIKANET to provide them an Internet connexion in several sites located in Malabo, Bata, Oyala, Evinayong and Mongomo. To bring the Internet, AFRIKANET connected these four sites to an efficient C-Band bandwidth, thanks to the Intelsat IG 903 satellite. This quality broadband service was really appreciated by Sogea Satom.

During four years, AFRIKANET worked in Equatorial Guinea to realize its commitment: to connect people together to improve African connectivity. This commitment makes AFRIKANET become one of the leaders in telecommunication across Africa.

AFRIKANET providing WLAN for microfinance REDEMARE-MCNP

ReDeMaRe MCNP is a microfinance company in Togo which works for a better access to resources and encourages common actions for the global benefit of the society. In order to improve its efficiency and to work in better conditions, ReDeMaRe MCNP decided to establish a wireless internet network to connect its offices. AFRIKANET brought the appropriate answer to ReDeMaRe MCNP by providing them a wireless internet network.

A partnership with Boston Solux

Afrikanet partnered with Boston Solux to provide a VSAT-based broadband internet to deliver 1 Mbps downstream, with ability to scale 2 Mbps to the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy in Malabo.

AFRIKANET solution:

Afrikanet partnered with Boston Solux to provide a VSAT-based broadband internet to deliver 1 Mbps downstream, with ability to scale 2 Mbps to the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Energy in Malabo.

Project was initiated October, 2013 by Boston Solux, who requested AFRIKANET to collaborate in contest of VSAT system provision for MMIE. December, 2013 Boston Solux announced that they won the contest and 75 % of project implementation was entrusted to our team. In the end of January the contract was signed and we started works.

Afrikanet ensure that all the system is working properly with great speed. MMIE started to use the services 25^th of April 2014 for 6 months period.

BostonSolux announced that MMIE (Ministry of Mines , Industry and Energy), the biggest Ministry in Guinea Equatorial, has deployed BostonSolux BSECURED PARK SOLUTION, delivered on time and on budget. MMIE ready for future project to connect all EG government in one system. MMIE’s newly build offices are now equipped with the necessary tools to work efficiently in this new era of “High Tech”.

An interconnection for Universities in Chad

AFRIKANET provides its expertise in order to interconnect the four universities in Chad for providing students and university administrative staff a videoconferencing platform and distance learning thanks to an internet connection.

About education in Chad:

The higher education in Chad is under the supervision of the Chadian Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Training.
One of his kingly mission is to interconnect all universities in Chad and create a learning platform and distance evaluation.
This major project will solve the problem of lack of qualified teachers, quality of education received by students and improve access to education for all.

AFRIKANET solution:

AFRIKANET provides its expertise in order to interconnect the four universities in Chad for providing students and university administrative staff a videoconferencing platform and distance learning thanks to an internet connection.

Royalty Hotels and Recreations is a Nigerian top-class hotel offering sophisticated luxury rooms for both business and leisure travelers. AFRIKANET provided two of their hotels with a safe and efficient Internet.

About the Hotel:

Royalty Hotels and Recreations is a top-class Nigerian hotel offering sophisticated luxury rooms for both business and leisure travelers. The hotel is strategically located in Eket, Akwa Iborn State and offer a wide variety of superior services to provide their customers with all the comfort they need. To do so, they needed a safe and efficient access to the Internet.

AFRIKANET solution:

Afrikanet worked with Royalty Hotels and Recreations, and thanks to its engineer team, Afrikanet connected two of Royalty Hotels and Recreations’s hotels: the main office at Eket – Oron Road Akwa Ibom state of Nigeria and another one at Marina Eket – Akwa Ibom states.

Afrikanet provided a VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) Internet conexion with a Ku-Band bandwidth broadcast on Telesat T11N.

With this installation, Royalty Hotels and Recreations is connected to the Internet and can use it safely thanks to the additional implementation of a firewall.

Our VSAT equipment is composed of different dish sizes from 1.2m to 1.8m, an iDirect X3 modem, 3 or 5 watt BUC, LNB, and other cables and connectors. Additional products might be added if needed such as Wlan products: WiFi and Wimax devices.

Afrikanet working to develop Uganda’s Internet network

Afrikanet worked with Infocom, an Internet services provider in Uganda, and helped them to develop a wide Internet network on 4 sites.

About the company:

Infocom is a Limited Liability company registered in Uganda, whose goal is to integrate communication solutions with a wide range of products and services. Born of a merger between Uganda’s internet pioneers Infomail and Starcom, Infocom has over 15 years of experience in providing Internet services in Uganda. Remaining a market leader in this competitive field, Infocom has grown both in technical operations and client base.

AFRIKANET solution:

Infocom’s desire was to connect its four sites with a satellite connexion in order to have bandwidth but they needed the help of experts, who would helped them in the implementation of these projects. Thus, in January 2012, Afrikanet helped them realize their wish and connected three of Infocom’s sites on a C-Band satellite connexion and one site on a NSS12 Ku-Band satellite connexion. This satellite coverage gave them access to bandwidth for all sites. This partnership, lasting over 2 years (January 2012 – July 2014) has strengthen Afrikanet’s commitment to work for the spread of Internet in Africa.

AFRIKANET, part of Archdiocese life

As part of improving its communication of its various archdioceses, the Archdiocese of Lome wishes to offer the installation of a VSAT link more interconnection of its various sites. Thanks to AFRIKANET solution, this project was launched and succeeded.

About the project:

The Sacred Heart Cathedral Lome is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Lome (since September 14, 1955), one of the seven Catholic ecclesiastical districts of the Republic of Togo. Built in just over one year (from April 1901 to September 1902) by the German colonial authorities, then it is one of the iconic buildings of the new Togolese capital.

As part of improving its communication of its various archdioceses, the Archdiocese of Lome wishes to offer the installation of a VSAT link more interconnection of its various sites. Overall VSAT Internet service that the archdiocese wants to buy should be based on SCPC technology C-Band for dedicated bandwidth (1M / 640Kbps) via a 1.8m antenna shared link, with a rate of availability of internet service greater than 90%.

AFRIKANET solution:

It is since the current of 2012 that collaboration between AFRIKANET and the Archdiocese of Lome began to be effective. To date AFRIKANET has already deployed its equipment on a dozen of the Archdiocese of sites. And over time their collaboration not only increased thanks to the quality of service offered AFRIKANET and the trust placed in it the Archdiocese of Lome.

ASECNA saw its communication expended

Since 2013 the collaboration between AFRIKANET and ASECNA began effective. AFRIKANET installed VSAT equipment and Wlan solution in order to meet the needs of the aviation organisation.

About the organisation:

ASECNA is an international public institution governed by the Dakar Convention revised in 2010, with a legal personality and financial autonomy. Create in Saint Louis, Senegal 12 December 1959, the Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation in Africa and Madagascar (ASECNA) is, after more than half a century, a perfect model of cooperative management of airspace.

As part of improving its corporate communications, the group wants ASECNA afford a VSAT Internet connection by dedicated line and an extension of its WLAN network in Guinea-Bissau headquarters. Overall VSAT internet service that wishes to acquire ASECNA must be based on SCPC technology C-Band for dedicated bandwidth (2M/768Kbps), with an availability rate of internet service above 90% by an antenna 2.3m.

AFRIKANET solution:

AFRIKANET has adopted various access technologies, making possible for a modern company to have a quality Internet broadband service in dedicated or shared band. In response to their request and according to survey site, we propose a solution of two parts: a main solution and a backup solution.

Main solution: it is represented by the VSAT site that will be installed by AFRIKANET to ANESCA.

The backup solution is represented by the existing VSAT equipment currently on the ANESCA the site that will be considered as safety equipment and the maintenance of which will be provided by AFRIKANET.

Since 2013 the collaboration between AFRIKANET and ASECNA began effective. To date the VSAT antenna 2.4 for the headquarters of civil aviation in Guinea-Bissau and the WLAN network to connect remote site 2 items installed, AFRIKANET normally operates on the agreements reached between the two parties. AFRIKANET remains of Anesca listening to other collaboration opportunities throughout AFRICA.
